Behrensbau
The ground floor of the building and the anniversary exhibition on the first floor are designed to be accessible to the widest possible audience.
Entrance
The exhibition’s main entrance is at Mannesmannufer 2 (Rheinuferpromenade).
The entrance is via a ramp. Our reception staff in the foyer will be happy to provide support for people requiring additional assistance in visiting our exhibition. Mini tour buses can stop in front of the entrance.

Pick-up service
If requested, we offer a service in the future to meet visitors at the Mannesmannufer bus stop or the Landtag / Kniebrücke tram stop and accompany them to the museum and back. For inquires and free booking, contact our Visitor Services.
Parking
There are two parking spaces for people with disabilities close to the Behrens building. Further parking facilities are available nearby the Behrens building.
Exhibition and function rooms
The anniversary exhibition and function rooms are all partially accessible. From the ground floor, access to the start of the exhibition tour on the first floor is by elevator or stairs. If you have any questions, our gallery attendants on the first floor are there to help. The rooms offer places to sit, and the exhibition tour also has a tactile floor-level guidance system. With prior registration, assistance / guide dogs are allowed in the exhibition.
Toilets
The toilets are on the ground floor of the Behrens building. These are accessible toilets and provide sufficient space for people using wheelchairs.
Exhibition media
With a wide range of accessible audio-visual media and audio stations, the tour of the exhibition offers an exciting experience for all visitors. In addition, a digital accessible media guide is available.

Our anniversary exhibition “OUR STATE. 75 Years of North Rhine-Westphalia” in the Behrens building is close to the Rhine embankment in Düsseldorf and just a short walk from the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament (Landtag). Villa Horion – House of Parliamentary History North Rhine-Westphalia
The Villa Horion, just a short walk from the Behrens building, houses a permanent exhibition on the history of the Landtag, the state parliament. In the House of Parliamentary History, visitors are taken on a journey across more than seventy years of North Rhine-Westphalia’s state parliament, from 1946 to the present day. “Paths of Parliamentary Democracy”
Connect your visit to the exhibition with a walk to the most important sites in the history of parliamentary democracy in Düsseldorf. The tour takes you through the old city centre and along the River Rhine to the sites in the state capital where the Landtag (state parliament) has met since its first constituent assembly in October 1946. At a total of five stops, there are information columns providing an insight into the different historic sites. More information is available via a QR code.
